Prolozone Therapy for Musculo – Skeletal and Joint Pain
REASONS FOR MUSCULO-SKELETAL AND JOINT PAIN
Musculo-skeletal and joint pain that includes chronic neck and back pain, rotator cuff injuries, degenerative and arthritic hips and knees, meniscal problems, degenerated discs, shoulder and elbow pain happens when ligaments, tendons and cartilage become dehydrated and weaker resulting in laxity and abnormal mechanical stress and shearing on the joint. Owing to recurring mechanical stress and failure of tissues to repair caused by lack of nutrients, lack of blood circulation, aging and inflammation, athletes and older people have gradual and natural degeneration of the moving parts of the body.
As a result a progressive separation of ligaments from the superficial covering on the bone called periosteum happens creating a space. This space is filled by the body with new bone parts called osteophytes. More joint dysfunction and pain happens when surrounding muscles are either over worked or under worked due to osteophytes and joint laxity.
ROLE OF LIGAMENTS
The ‘RUBBER BANDS’ of the body, ligaments hold bones to bones in joints thus acting like shock absorbers of the body. Ligaments have limited blood supply and many nerve endings. Ligaments can become weak and get injured. An injured ligament takes a long time to heal and cannot tighten on its own to its original length due to the limited blood supply. The nerve endings in a damaged or loose ligament makes a person feel pain .
Prolozone Pain Therapy
Prolozone is a homeopathic-oxygen–ozone, non-surgical connective tissue injection therapy of collagen producing substance and ozone gas for ligament and damaged or weakened connective tissue reconstruction. The technique has been developed and pioneered by Dr.Frank Shallenberger.
Prolozone is a permanent treatment for chronic pain. Permanent chronic pain is reversed once the connective tissue is repaired by using ozone therapy which helps the joint to heal more rapidly and also allows for formation and growth of new ligament tissues in areas where they have become weak.
The therapy causes lax structures, partially torn connective tissue and ligaments to be repaired and tightened. It creates a conducive healing environment within the joints by allowing for increased blood circulation carrying nutrients and hydration of the damaged tissues. The pain/inflammation cycle is halted resulting in decreased pain and increased motion range.
